Having been pleased with my first experience at Unique Upholstery when they did a good job installing Katzkin leather seats in my Jeep I decided I'd pay them another visit. I needed a repair for the driver’s seat in my old Dodge Ram (the foam was shot and the fabric was ripped), I thought I’d give them another shot. A few years ago, I had received a quote for this exact repair at $150, which I passed on at the time since it was more than I wanted to spend. When I went back to them, the price had jumped to $325. While I understand prices go up over time, this felt like quite a steep increase especially when they are using take off fabric that essentially cost them nothing for my repairs. I was told it would match my interior since the original fabric is no longer available. The biggest issue came when I went to pay. They didn’t tell me about their "convenience fees" for using a credit card. There was no mention of this either verbally or in a written quote. Had I known, I probably would’ve looked for other options. They only brought it up after I had already agreed to the repair, which left me feeling like I was being blindsided. The work itself was fine—I'll give them that. The seat looks good. Unfortunately the car was returned to me dirtier than when I dropped it off. The interior was covered in oil and residue (fingerprints all over windows, all over the gear shifter, on the seat, etc.) The floor mats also had trash and dirt.
